Does this mean that I shouldn’t be riding my Phantom on the Coker tire Typhoons since I probably can’t get them anymore?
I took them off the rims and the beads weren’t too bad, a little crusty but didnt chunk out when I did that. The tread and sidewalls were pretty pliable and soft but I wanted some ozone protection on them too.
I wiped the tires inside and out with formula 303 protectant before re installing them. The beads enjoyed the lube so much that they kept popping out of the rims during inflation. Much to my relief I did get them to seat and haven’t had any problems riding them since then.
I ride this bike occasionally and like having everything as close to original as possible. Looks like even the repops like they used on the anniversary Phantom aren’t around anymore.
I have no plans on ever selling this bike so I’m not worried about resale value. The bike is a damn near perfect restoration so having the (1990’s?) Coker’s on it is kind of important to the overall package.
Ride them or not?
