That's Tool #3 Spoke Nipper. The Eldi is at a right angle and IMO could be even the better choice and easier to use.

Great, just a couple of hours and you guys came up with 3 of the 5 items. Just one more tool photo, and I still need a side view of one half of a spoked wheel with a large flange hub because I believe it will be easier to see the spoke positioning.

I'm still looking for one #4 tool photo of an old, early wheel centering gauge from Schwinn. It's before Park tools got going, it's likely dated in the 1960's. It was a cad. plated Schwinn made tool. I don't believe it's even stamped with a name or number. It's just steel "C" channel formed. The indicator pointer is secured with a Huret shifter tension cup spring. It's older than Schwinn Twin Stick stem shifters.

It has been suggested that we should have all of the wheel building information in one spot. I agree, much of this will be forgotten by the time someone needs it and it will be more helpful if it's easy to search. I'm up with anything you can do to collect the information, and re-post it if necessary. I'm an "Analog guy, living in a Digital World" as in the Eagle's lyric's. Any posting, organizational, and photo help is greatly appreciated.

LOL...........Miq, I see your going to be one of those difficult students! I need a picture of one half of an ASSEMBLED wheel. LOL

Large flange hub is easier to see because the spokes are spaced out. Only one half of the wheel, showing the valve stem in the side view photo, so we have a reference point.

Seriously, you hub photo shows a very important view point. Everyone needs to look at the relationship of the spoke holes in each hub flange. Note, the holes do NOT line up, they are one half a hole different. This is the most common mistake when building a wheel. It's easy to see on your hub because it's a large flange hub, AND both flanges are large. It's really hard to see when you have a Hi-Lo hub.

Yea I see you are asking for all kinds of fun stuff. Sorry, I don’t have any of the missing pics. Yes I’m a difficult student.

I’m just psyched for the building and truing class to start. I’m interested to learn more about truing and try to apply it to the front drum brake I’m adding to my Klunker‘s front wheel.
