Joel, As I think of anything that applies to your bike I will drop it here. You can save and dress up discolored rear rack deflectors by spray painting them with Krylon satin white for plastic and other surfaces. I did mine that way. New ones are $20 each online and my repainted ones look just as good. The paint is $10.

Bob, If you've got a NOS set of the early lights then you're ahead of me. I tried polishing the surface of mine and you can see the chrome is bubbled up in places, I'm guessing because of corrosion in the pot metal under the chrome. Hopefully the polish (Simichrome) will seal the surface and keep it from getting any worse. I used to work at a place that did die castings (zinc and aluminum) and I'm guessing "pot metal" is some kind of zinc alloy, I know zinc castings will eventually corrode with moisture if they don't have some kind of coating.
