SLM - thank you for the pics. I see your red bike has randonneur bars! I am building my bike as close to the original specs as possible, and believing Schwinn had differences between the 72 and 73 models - like the seat post decals. If your red bike is a 73, it would be a great help for you to show a close up measurement of the rainbow decal placement as mine are missing. Also, the seat post hardware that holds the rear brake cable is missing on mine. Can you please show that so I know what to search for. Thanks, Dan

It is a 1973 built for the wife of a John Deere exec. Which is why it has a small John Deere decal on the seat tube.

Oh WOW that's a surprise! Your brake levers have a barrel adjuster on the top - different from Mark 72 shown earlier. I was expecting to see the cable adjustment barrel closer to the calipers. That changes my search for levers completely. Thanks for the close up of the hardware and rear cable set up.

I have looked at Schwinn Paramount's for many years.

I still cannot get used to seeing Paramount's with Twinn Sticks AND safety levers. They just seem so out of place on a high-end bike.

John
Completely agree !!! It’s makes the front end feel So Heavy !!! I’m taking them off and putting Campy shifters . I ride my bikes and I hate the steering feel of this Red Paramount !

One unique detail on the rear brake cable, on the shorter framed P65's, is the placement of cable stops for the rear brakes. Some had a single stop on the rear side of the seat tube and had a bare cable up to a pulley mounted on the seat tube clamp bolt. This is because the shorter frames had no room for the bracket with center pull brakes. I have two in the collection fitted this way.
