Schwinn Sales West

I live for the CABE
No ! Apparently I was not up to date on the rules until the issue landed in my lap and I honestly thought...
To quote myself:

Are you smoking Crack! Why would I go to a person that blatantly counterfeited my product!!!

And what point don't you get about...

The POINT is called BUSINESS, and making MONEY.

You already stated you don't want to be in the bicycle business, frankly neither do I. Why would anybody want to go into business today, especially in California with all of our anti-small business rules? But you have a product brand name you can sell, maybe even make some money. By contracting with a long-term quality custom manufacturer, you do not have to forecast inventory, place orders for parts, handle the cash flow and paperwork. You're not shipping or receiving materials; you do not have anything tied up in rented space or machinery. You just make fifty cents per unit sold (or whatever number you negotiated). Do you think Schwinn Bicycle Company actually liked buying bicycles from Giant? No, it was just a good business option that helped both parties. Heck, Giant was so low in quality in the beginning, that Schwinn had to send their engineering department over to help design their production equipment. The maroon colored (Giant produced) World's faded to white (undercoat) while sitting in the dealer showrooms if any sun hit the paint.

LOL. while this entire idea might make sense to business minded people with cool heads, I seriously doubt you and Johnny could ever sit down and make a jointly profitable business arrangement like discussed.

So, Besides Worksman, do any current businesses still build a good quality vintage styled balloon tire-ed cruiser bike? I see the walmart level stuff, and I know the used market it usually flooded with 10-30 year old bikes from back when Electra, Felt, Schwinn, Columbia, etc. were building neat reproductions and hot rod cruisers as fast as they could, but how about now? Electra bikes all look like rentals ever since they got bought out. Anything cool?

So to answer to the original post, SE Bikes is still producing very good quality BMX Cruiser style bikes. I purchased one of the 27.5 PK Rippers a while back, this is a super quality bike, that rides so much better than all of my old classic Schwinn Cruisers. When I was working at the shop back in the early 80's, I dabbled in BMX racing at Ascot's BMX track. I built myself a 24" Floval Flyer just for racing on this track, then eventually sold the bike a few years after. This special edition PK Ripper, is very close to the Floval Flyer I had back in the day with the aluminum frame.

The rule has always been if you don’t actively use the brand for 3 years it is considered abandoned. Having the USPTO hold your hand and remind you to pay attention to that may have changed, but that’s no excuse. Why would you expect US bike culture to take care of that for you. That’s silly, it’s your brand, you can’t leave it up to anyone but yourself. If you want to protect something that is valuable, you need to take care of it yourself. The brand IS what’s valuable, not the old tools and drawings and outdated machines.

Cruiser bicycles.
For some people, that might refer to simple beach cruiser bicycles, (but not everyone lives near the beach?).
For the younger generations, cruiser bicycles might refer to BXM-type bikes, (sometimes limited to 24” wheels?).

From the wording of the question, with reference to Walmart prices and past reproductions (not called counterfeit?), the question might be in the context of classic looking 26” balloon-tire bicycles, (but not too similar to the more-modern mountain bike).

Because of the price competition at the lower end, the domestic market may apparently be geared more towards a higher-price specialty market niches. For example, 26” bikes that fit adults, but otherwise look like kids 20” BXM bikes?

Yep!
Trek made this gem back in 2005 for no other reason than looking unique and cruising the beach.

So, that how I intend to use it.

I’ve never taken it out, when someone hasn’t stopped me to ask me what it is?
That is usually followed, by,

“ That is the coolest looking bike I’ve ever seen!”

So, I think, Trek achieved their goal with this exercise in classic American bicycle design.
