Having worked inside the industry for (ever), I am of the mind that decisions
including color are not simply random choices.
Sales and marketing meetings involve how to sustain or prop up a product,
including spec and color-ways. Niche markets and tie ins are good examples.
Marketing was becoming a more engrained aspect of the product mix, and
contract product placements were beginning as well.
With that said, note the color descriptors- Golden yellow (aka Golden Arches) and red
Golden Yellow, not sunset or chrome yellow. Golden, as in Green and Gold.
Frosty blue and white seem to point to United airlines(or some iteration from back then.)
It would be interesting to see if anyone has insights from the inside.
