Having worked inside the industry for (ever), I am of the mind that decisions
including color are not simply random choices.

Sales and marketing meetings involve how to sustain or prop up a product,
including spec and color-ways. Niche markets and tie ins are good examples.
Marketing was becoming a more engrained aspect of the product mix, and
contract product placements were beginning as well.

With that said, note the color descriptors- Golden yellow (aka Golden Arches) and red
Golden Yellow, not sunset or chrome yellow. Golden, as in Green and Gold.
Frosty blue and white seem to point to United airlines(or some iteration from back then.)

It would be interesting to see if anyone has insights from the inside.

Before this thread, I've NEVER HEARD of anyone bringing up the colors were a theme....you're reading much too into it....

All three colors ( actually 4 as the red/ yellow combo was also sold as a reverse color scheme) were sought after like crazy in Detroit.
The blue/ silver especially as everyone considered it the Det Lions ‘bike’ even though it just happened to be their colors.
My observations were that the inner city kids picked up on the stingrays after the more affluent kids had moved on .

Only way I see a Packers theme bike is if one of the Schwinn big wigs wanted one off for his kid.
