Wore out three sets of tires already!
If the switch works I would put a double AAA or double AA battery holder inside. Hold it in place with a magnet glued to the battery holder with Goop. If it’s a plastic shell you could glue the battery holder to the shell, but the batteries might be a little harder to replace. Replace the bulb with a 3 volt LED bulb that fits your original bulb socket. You’ll have to solder the batteries to the switch and bulb. I’ve done similar on 4 bikes. You might be able to fit a three battery holder inside, but then you’d need a 4.5 volt LED bulb. Most LEDs only work if the battery polarity matches the LED. Black wire to black, etc. A 3 volt LED won’t work with 4.5 volts and vice versa. Takes a little fussing around but the bulb is so much more robust than the old incandescent ones. I use the generator headlight type for this. I’ve found that if the generator tail light is burned out, or even if you’re going fast, the incandescent bulbs on the generator systems burn out. LEDs won’t work with a generator. Everything is available from Amazon. My batteries have all lasted for many years, even stored in an unheated shop down to -25.I have this headlight on my 67 Sears Spyder. Can't seem to get it functioning at this point. Just wondering is there a headlight similar to this style/shape that is strictly battery powered and does not need a generator?
