What an incredibly fun day. This annual event never fails; it's always one of our favorite gatherings; it really is. I was talking with our friend John @Livmojoe and his wife and we both agree that having the time to talk with people is what we enjoy the most, and the multiple stops during the day allows us to do so. That's always been fun for me. The variety of old bikes that show up are cool too, enjoying a day like yesterday with with family and friends just makes it more memorable and special. A huge thank you to Chris @slick for continuing this annual vintage bike gathering. Thanks buddy.

Because Gary Quail wanted to to be sure that this junior roadster project rode nice for my granddaughter, he wanted to true the wheels up a little as he says "real quick". We appreciate my friend for doing this always. Gary did the same for "Bluey" our other prewar 20" bike

Last year, riding her '36 Rollfast Playcycle 20", our attempt to cross the Golden Gate together only made it to the south tower. She didn't want to go any farther, so we turned around; it was so windy. Let's backup a couple of weeks when I started the junior roadster project. I wanted to complete this project in time for the SF ride in hopes that my granddaughter will ride all the way across the Golden Gate this year. As a 9 year old, how cool would it be to accomplish that on a prewar 20" roadster built just 3 years after the bridge was completed in 1937. My thought throughout the day was if she was willing. She went back and forth. I was riding next to our friend Steve @ballooney when the subject came up once again with my granddaughter about crossing and encouraging her to do it. Steve said that he'd go with us, and the rest of my brothers were on board. "We are all going," I told her. Of the many highlights for me on this day, crossing the bridge with my granddaughter tops it....

Here we go....

IMG_5058.jpg

Nice day to cross compared to the last few years. That's Steve @ballooney on the left riding his original blue ‘39 Schwinn jeweled Motorbike.

IMG_5059.jpg

That's Chris and Mel @Mel_e_Mel right behind us. Thank you brothers for staying with us all the way across the Golden Gate

Go Asami...

IMG_5070.jpg

We did it together, yay. She faced her fear.

Also a special day for our friend Gary Quail, the birthday boy on this 27th day of July.

We are quite the "Motley Crew". Thanks Chris @slick for this most memorable day

The return trip across. No tail wind on this day, but extreme cross wind from the west. So I stayed beside her to help block the wind, somewhat.

Passionate build for me for my granddaughters, a CWC built DBR junior for this year's SF ride and Golden Gate crossing.

IMG_5188.jpg

Grateful to these two brothers Armando and Edwin. True Tito (uncles) to my granddaughter. You can't help but notice their encouragement crossing the bridge and their enthusiasm and excitement when she did. Both were waiting, video on, as we got to the other side. Love these guys.

I'll end it here, my favorite moment of our day. That's Steve @ballooney right behind us

Late post but.... here we go. As always I didn't take many photos and when I lead these rides the day is just an utter blur going by in the blink of an eye. I feel I missed so much. Almost like riding alone since I'm in front... if that makes sense?

Anyways, I wanted to thank all of you for coming out. All of you make these rides happen. I started doing this ride in 2011. It's definitely a favorite for many including myself and brings out the best of the best bike wise. Top quality bikes being ridden in grueling conditions. The day started off with some fog/drizzle, cold, windy, just a typical day on the City. Overall a great day with my vintage bike family from all over the state. So I'll share a few photos I took.
Btw, who was on this blue Colson snap tank? Looks like a great bike and I never saw it after the ride started?

It's been a tradition that I rode the black Airflow since that's been my S.F. bike since the start in 2011 and I sure as hell wasn't going to break that streak after 13 years. So I hauled it in my new commuter. My 2020 Corolla XSE. Yes... it's fits. Lay the back seat down and go!

The S.F. ride gets the juices flowing in every way imaginable. 🤣

@fordmike65 and @kreika swapping bikes for a bit. We had a blast at the afterparty at Gotts restaurant at the Ferry building after the ride. Nice spot to eat, people watch and a nice selection of cold ones.

When you gotta go... you bring the bike in with you. My good friend Mark's hi wheel while he's taking a pit stop.

Slimm seen here with his beautiful full custom swing bike made to look like a fish. He hooked me up with this vintage Shelby ad. He's not on here but one hell of a guy and I can't thank him enough.
