The Weinmann brake levers are very interesting with all the little changes over the years. The hooded levers on the road bikes were constantly changing and there were different levers every year. The levers used in 1963-64-65-66-67 were all different each year.
Here's the 3rd? issue of the eye stabber lever that showed up sometime in 1962. This one also had a few minor changes later and the oval button was changed to a nylon? piece from the alloy.
Weather has finally warmed a bit here, snow is slowly melting. So I got the green Corvette out and aired the tires and rode it a little. seems to ride ok, I have not figured out the 2 speed shifter. When I click to change gears nothing happens, do I need to apply the coaster brake to initiate the shift?
Could be an internal issue but start with the basics and check your cable tension. Make sure when you pull the trigger that you are getting some movement on the shift paw or actuator if you will.
