I live for the CABE
I like when my skirt guard lacing compliments the bike, and the extant examples I’ve seen indicate that it wasn’t just all white twine. I found a website, Twine by Design, for whom it seems that rosaries are their primary sales target. (Their craft twine and rosary twine are identical, except with loftier names). Anyway it’s between 2-3mm, like the original. I photographed a sample of the lacing from the 1934 Mead Ranger, alongside the new twine. This has a more variegated pattern, but the colors are just about right.

I also ordered a two tone blue and white to eventually do the LaSalle, and I think it will look great. With a lighter, I checked the content and it appears to be synthetic so you can burn the ends to prevent unraveling, which will also presumably be helpful in feeding it through the holes.

Nice!
Thanks for the heads up.
I’ve got a ladies Goodrich DeLuxe that I’m about to do, and I was starting think about what I should do for the skirt guard lacing?
It’s an Ivory & Blue bike, so I just ordered a spool of the Blue & White twine.
I’m just going to do a simple back and forth type of lacing pattern, so hopefully one spool of the 400’ twine is enough to do the job?

I would imagine one spool will do 9-10 bikes.

Success!
I finally got around to giving that skirt guard lacing a try, and am really happy with the results from that cord material by Twine by Design.

The white was quite a bit brighter than the Ivory color on the bike, so I wanted to see if I could tone it down with something?

I got some of this Matte Finish, Vintage White, acrylic paint from Hobby Lobby, and it did a good job of giving the synthetic cord an aged/faded cotton look.

I really like the strength of the nylon cord.
You can snug it up nicely without the worry of it breaking or stretching and becoming loose over time.

Thanks again, @elginkid!
Twine by Design is an excellent source for lacing material.

Wouldn’t it look cooler if you put string inside fender instead of outside? It looks okay, but I think it would look way cooler on inside! Just my opinion….

I’m thinking that the string would rub the tire if it were on the inside?

Are there extant examples of how they came from the factory? It would be relatively easy to swap, there’s just enough give that you can slip each leg off, and reattach it.
