You’re lucky to have a good neighbor like that! If he can drip you a drop of yellow/gold in your can of paint that would be cool. I didn’t think it would be worth having you pay for another full half a pint to bring the color a smidgen different.
I got that half pint for $20 and the new color will be free. This bike, however, is for a customer so i do have to keep price in mind which is something I dont normally keep track of when it's my personal projects ☺️

Got the new color back after adding 3 grams of Jade Pearl I think we will have a very close match. Standard Auto Body Parts and Supply in Melbourne, FL off Aurora Road was extremely helpful in finding the color and definitely knows their stuff.

Here is the color in and out of the light.

After looking at the wonderful color and job her husband did, I'm sure she'll be tickled to death with a new brighter metallic. The original does look like a candy over the silver base on that steerer tube. Most of the Western Flyers that show up are Murray built and I finally came across the Huffy version. Other than the fork darts, chain guard and carrier, I see no other markings.

Wow! That was really great timing, I just spoke with Shawn via Ebay and they said they could make the decals but needed some better pictures and dimensions. I was really struggling to trace out what I thought might have been there originally based off some faint lines that were left.

Also, I could not for the life of me figure out what was on the front fender. There was a longer slotted hole and then a single circular mounting hole. I knew these were not for a torpedo light, but I could find no examples of what was on the front fender. I'd be willing to bet that ornament is impossible to locate lol. Maybe I could find something close in the automobile world. Could you provide some other pics of it?could you provide some other pics of it?

I posted the ebay link for the fork darts. I can see now that it says Western on the top of the tank between the bars. The fender ornament is going to be the needle in the haystack. The carrier detailing is actually screened on paint.

Here's the link to the only one found. 7 year old Offer up listing.

Here's a boys Huffy built same year? It has the fender ornament.

A few small but important things got finished this weekend. Put a little more effort and some aluminum brightener on the pedals and they really came out swell.

Bought an original seat minus the rear crash bar and silver dressing around the trim and sanded, painted, and swapped over some parts to make it like new. I saved the old silver lining around the base to try and match up to something close at the local sewing shop

Looking good and your progress is moving right along. I bet stripping that frame was the highlight of the day.

There has to be somebody here that has the correct Huffy ATOM chain ring. It just doesn't seem right to use a Murray ring. 😜 Maybe @partsguy has one hanging on his wall.

I agree. I wish I could save the original but the chrome is peeling off completely. I'll check the ole' eBay in the morning.

You won’t have any luck on eBay for the correct ring. Partsguy had some Huffys he was parting out a while back. Do a Huffy search in the parts section of the classifieds.

Edit: Looks like a 44T was just recently listed! Kinda pricey though.

There's a 36T that's decent but off a muscle bike and to small.
