Currently mocking up my last prewar Dx. Not sure if I want cream smoothie Lobdell’s or red drop centers on it yet. Need to paint the frame and chainguard to match the fenders, tank, and fork still, but I’m liking it so far

Started this about a week ago . Temps were in the teens. Elected to work in my living room. This wheel is from the $20, 1959 Schwinn Fair Lady. Refurbishing it for my wife.{We'll see if she even rides it}
MISSION: My wife hates any tyoe of gearing. So I will replace the Austrian 3 speed with a Bendix single.

I dismattled a wheel I had with the Bendix. The 59 rim was in much better shape.

..so I thought. I had this wheel so out of whack, only the eight Miller beers could explain how I laced it. The next morning I relaced and rebuilt the wheel correctly

I used to watch late night TV and work on bikes and end up with the same problems. So that 1959 wheel was laced three cross originally? I always thought it was like the 60s that they went to three cross on the middleweights.
