Started working on my Silverking Hextube rear wheel. I wanted to make it a 2 speed. I removed the single speed guts and installed the 2 speed guts. Made a huge mistake by not holding the end where all the gears or clutches were. Guess what fell out? What a nightmare! After installing it correctly I installed the actuator.. It refused to work. I forgot that these 2 speed hubs use two types of actuators one with pins and ones without. I thought the 2 speed was defective so I remove it again then it came to me, it uses two types of actuators! What a day!

Started with a bare ‘50 Schwinn straight bar frame today that I recently painted a coppertone color for a klunker build. Installed all the cups, cut the steerer tube on the fork and installed. Then I dug out a modern black shimano coaster wheel set , mounted some Maxxis Ikon mtn bike tires and installed them.

Then I installed the crankset.

Last I mocked up a vintage slingshot BMX stem and some vintage moto bars.

The bars and stem are gonna come back off for repaint since I like how they look and will be using them.

Clean looking build! Now you've got me thinking about a blue and copper candy paint job for my straight bar.
