For us balloon tire guys the options are fairly limited; cheap tires, John’s Chain Treads, or old rubber.
No doubt. Old rubber doesn't cut it and modern 26" tires don't look right on the vintage bikes. I rode my '52 Panther a couple of times this year on 65 year-old WW Typhoons. Nothing happened, but tires that old are too fragile (and valuable) for regular riding. Duros look like the only option for a brick tread tire that remotely resembles the old Typhoons. I never should have sold the last set of Boulder Schwinn Typhoons I had.

I don't see the SS Schwinns much anymore, but that's usually where I like to find reproduced Typhoons. Buy a bike for $50-60, snatch the tires and throw whatever cheap takeoffs I have on or even buy new duro tires, and resell the SS for the same price. I believe in some circles, that's called horse trading.

I’m sure they’re fine. They wouldn’t sell them if they can’t hold air. If they hold air, they’re good to ride! Definitely worth the $13.00. Worst case scenario, no great loss!
Just don't over inflate as they split out if you run more than 30-35 psi.in them.

Check out @elginbluebird on flee bay. Micheal has the Columbia Superb wide white brick treads for $65.00 a pair with tubes and rim strips included plus free shipping. Best deal I've found for Ballooner tires.

I ordered 2 sets of these tires on Jan 1st. Last night i recieved a fedex email that the shipping label had been created but the package wasnt in Fedex's possession yet. After reading this thread, i am wondering if i even want the tires. Anyway, i will be curious to find out if i actually get anything and if i do, are they even rideable..
