Mark, I have not heard anything about Schwinn Shops being encouraged to have a Clown Bike for a loaner or rent.

I was at our family-owned (2) Schwinn shops in Arizona from 1958 to 1978, and then worked in the bicycle industry calling on dealers in Southern and Northern California from 1978 to 1994.

Maybe it was something Harry Wilson Sales Agency (in Commerce) the independent Schwinn Distributor came up with?

John

@Schwinn Sales West, Ron owner of Pat’s told me that & also heard that at Russell's & Paramount Schwinn, all the local school/church carnivals we went to ( SanGabrial Valley/OC ) had them with the local bike shop advertised on them, they probably rented them cheap for the fundraising, good advertising that left a good impression on a lot of future customers. I’ll have to ask Jon/Klocker’s about this
