Perfect! Very rare to see decals in that condition on an original!
Thanks! Full disclosure - the decals on the tank and chainguard are replacements, done by the owner of the Schwinn dealership. The originals were flaking and faded. The grips are also repros. Everything else is original. The chrome on the rear fender is not great, but otherwise a solid, survivor bike.

What are your plans for the bike? Ride it? Hide it? Do you like to tinker or can’t screw in a light bulb? Both can be great or ride crappy. This question is like asking us what shoes to get without saying how the bike will be used

It’ll be ridden and tinkered with. I’ll never own a closet queen.
I’d say build your own version of either bike then! Original beat down paint is the most enjoyable to use all the time! Started with just a frame on mine!

Building a bike from parts is never the cheap, easy way to go. Regardless of what you choose buy the best, complete example you can afford. I never view bikes as investment but trying to sell a cobbled together bike is infinitely more difficult than selling a nice original.

Cantilever frames are everywhere. Straightbar frames are seen less in my opinion. I prefer a straightbar to a cantilever any day. The panther was the inspiration for this build. I love it even though it's not correct by any means..............but it rides great and I will never get rid of it. I have several cantilever bikes , but that straightbar really does it for me. Decisions decisions 🙃

Beautiful bike; is there any more room between the stem and seatpost on the straightbar compared to the cantilever?
