I feel like the Phantom is just more sleek looking. With the front train light and the ribbed lens to the rear rack light and the best seat to boot. I would go with and early '50s Phantom. Although I wouldn't pass on a Panther if one crossed my path.

I actually have a black Phantom and Panther in very similar condition, if I had to keep just one I’d keep the Panther I got here from Oz

Put a rear facing lucky seat post on either and you’ll have the extra space that your looking for
