Finally, exactly as you surmised much much earlier. The Bauer Marque with the matching lug pattern of the 3 bikes. Unless my eyes are missing something @juvela this is the matchup 2AT
BOCAMA pattern 30/I Still the closest match?
background on german production cycles and lug patterns:
"usually" with cycles produced in france, italy, belgium, netherlands & switzerland can identify lug pattern and if not exact pattern at least manufacturer
with german production see patterns "somewhat similar" to those known but do not recognise a maker
suspect there to be one or more german lug manufacturers unknown to me
it is also within possibility that some of the larger german producers may own proprietary lug designs
Hello @juvela
I have not started to research this having just received and discovered this makers mark and wanted share with you asap. Something with some familiarity for you no doubt and hopeful on my end.
Tomorrow will be the head paint investigation to see if there is a legible foil indicating the retailer as well.

Glad to hear you're making progress with your project. When I got the idea to recreate my childhood bike it started out with a thud, not a bang. After bidding against someone for the right frame and paying too much for everything, I finally finished it in less than a year. What was funny, I...
It’s like being on Wheel Of Fortune and just not getting the final letter or two.
working right to left it was going relatively well. Just no way to decipher the first character at all unfortunately. it’s also more faded from working it now but was noting as it went with some confidence.
There was more Red in the bottom center of the foil that appeared to be an outline of a country or flag possibly. The foil is a cross shape.
Classic & Vintage - Brilliant bicycle - looking for info - This is a peculiar little bike that fell into my hands today. It is badged a "Brilliant" and it is a folding bicycle. Weinmann front brake and a German lighting unit are just about the only identifying marks. Cottered cranks, vinyl...
Will measure the steerer to see if it’s 26mm or not.
From there will chuck it up and start stripping it. I am going to need some specialty tools but my Metrics will get some use finally working on bikes now. There are no metric anything in 60’s muscle cars.
The bottom bracket turns but the bearings have failed and I can see it’s out of center and side loading on rotation. The arm on the crank is bent. Some poor kid was struggling with the cotter and had duct tape for a grip on one side. It’s got a soul and a new curator. I am very happy with the condition of the frame with regards to rust and trueness.
This machine needs an appropriate Head Badge @juvela. can you offer any suggestions?
