Picked these up today. Girls Schwinn because it matches a boys bike I have, Shelby Y frame with aluminum fenders, and a twin bar for around town. Plus a bonus pick on the rim. It was a good day. although I just had a conversation about about not bringing more stuff home lol

I found this 1947 Chief about 20 years ago, but the family wasn't ready to part with it yet. Finally got the call this week that the time had come to sell it. Just the way I like to find them. Original, unmolested and not passed around the hobby. This original paint machine has less than 12K miles on it. The paint is strong and the original Chumme seat is in near mint condition under the period sheepskin cover. Lots of period correct doodads added by the original owner (the aftermarket accessory horns need to go). Looking forward to getting this one back on the road.

What is known of the photo?
Sadly little is known of the photography. It previously was in the: Cycling Photographica Collection of Lorne Shields, Toronto, ON, Canada. Mr. Shields gifted the photography to Gertjan Moed who founded the Velorama National Bicycle Museum in the Netherlands. Reportedly there was a maker of similar type handlebars across the pond.
Possibly someone could identify the marking on the rear quarter of the steer.
The U.S. patent holder, John L. Martin was from Beaumont, Texas which is approx. 85 miles East of Houston.
