Got my wood lathe set back up and to practice I made these early star grips out of a old mahogany banister I've had laying around forever.

Lots of wet sanding to get the remnants of the orig. paint.. decided to preserve and not restore. how I would have done it in the 70's.
She runs good with an updated 305ci. A Cali. car that's been in Az. most of its life.

I drove about 600 miles, round trip, for this. I've been searching for a Hunky Shaw's Special for at least five years. This one is a prewar Schwinn Built model.
They were sold in a shop in Yakima Washington, started by the professional Baseball Player named Hunky Shaw. A lady named Donna Meyer inherited a house from from her parents in Ellensberg Washington. Her parents bout the house in 1964 and found the bike in one of the sheds on the property.

This week I picked up a decent Troxel #2, and Iver Johnson script bar and stem combo, 2 sets of Magna streamline pedals, a very nice set of Torrington 6 pedals!
Couple of bikes- postwar planes and trains badged DX incomplete and needs some good lovin, I may decide to Klunk this one. Last but not least is the LaSalle badged DX which tried to break the Schwinn forum. K serial - frame is a half prewar, half postwar anomaly.
