Cruisin' on my Bluebird
I had some trees removed and one trimmed this week. The conversation of bikes came up and the tree trimmer is like, "yeah, I've got some old bikes...German I think!"
"Huh?" I start throwing out brand names and he says, "yeah, that's it they're Schwinn!! You know what, I'm not doing anything with them and you helped load the trees, so I'm just going to give them to you."
I put the car back in park, cause you know I'm all ready to go, and ask, "alright, where am I going to pick these up now?!?" Lol
Womp womp The one is a Schwinn...late 80s World Sport, nothing great and not my typical cup of tea, but cool enough to rehab since it was free and the tires aired up and it rode. The Sheffield though...it's too rusty and the tire sidewalls look like pizza crust! Sprocket is bent and the cotter pin was left loose...tires aired up and it rode though. I tightened the cotter pin and the chain fell off, go figure! Lmao
Definitely getting parted out since the price of the tires will likely exceed what I get for the bike.
Fast forward to last night and I come home from work to this:
Tree limb from the neighbor's fell on the gutter and power line above the shop! We were just talking about it Friday, how it looked like it was going to fall onto their house/driveway.
Back up to Tuesday, the price finally came down on the Spicy Chestnut Cruiser I've been eyeballing. It followed me home.
It was a 5sp that somebody neutered and reinstalled a Suntour coaster brake to make it ride again. They scraped the wet brake sticker off too, lame. I've got a replacement on the way though. I rearranged it to be a bit more original and took it for a spin.
I'll just have to find a donor 10sp for the positron control/cable/derailleur. I've already got a spare set of 81 drum rear wheels in work.
I picked up this pile O parts over the last few weeks too, just haven't posted.
The Wipperman hub was too cool to pass up!!!
