Here’s a 1940 dx I picked up a few years ago. Every moving part was frozen in place. Turned it into my swap meet runner.

I love a challenge. I was told this would never be anything more than wall art and i made it a bike again in one afternoon.

1936 Schwinn Built
I bought it off ebay for $100.00.
The fellow that sold it to me was mad it didn't fetch a better price. So, when he took it apart for shipping, he broke the stem, pulled the screws through the fender mounting holes and bent the fork so bad I had to replace it. I told the guy I'd be happy with another fork and fix the other issues myself. He was a total jerk and told me to pound sand and that I should be happy with such a good price in the first place. I told ebay about it and the took care of it for me. I ended up getting the bike for nothing.
I straightened the fork good enough to take this photo.
It was the first bike I painted myself. Dave Stromberger has it now. He's going to pinstripe it for me. I made my own stencils. It turned out pretty good.

But the winner goes to this pre-war Schwinn. Paid $60 at a swap meet and thought I could save it, but I was wrong. Got it home and noticed where the frame was rusted through in a couple places and not worth trying to save. It is now just yard art in front of my shop.
