Wow!
Stage 9 turned out to be nothing short of epic!
It was pure luck and an insatiable will, to not give up for anything.
These guys fought like Lions today.

It’s pretty incredible, that in the end, after all of that carnage, none of the guys in the General Classification, even lost one second of time.
Suuuuuper Lucky!🍀
Tomorrow is a very well deserved day of rest.
We’re 1/3rd of the way there.
One week down, Two more to go!
😎

Since today is a well deserved rest day, I thought it would be appropriate to look back 100 years to see what was going on in this classic race then.

Absolutely Classic!
Although the equipment and athletic conditioning have changed quite a bit over the years, some of those gravel sections on yesterday’s stage 9 looked very much the same.
Fantastic job by the organizers to bring back a little of that nostalgia from the race 100 years ago.

Wow!
Stage 11 was like watching Frazier and Ali, only throw in Foreman and Tyson just to make things interesting.

Tadej goes for the knockout!
IMG_0700.jpeg

IMG_0702.jpeg

IMG_0703.jpeg

Vingehaard, Roglic, and Evenepoel are on the back foot, but you can never count either of those guys out.
They just keep coming at you!
IMG_0704.jpeg

IMG_0705.jpeg

Tadej gave it a good go, but it didn’t take long for the smelling salts to kick in for Vingegaard.
Roglic goes down!
IMG_0706.jpeg

But he’s back up before you could count to ten.
IMG_0707.jpeg

So after a 15 round knockdown drag out fight, it came down to a sprint for the finish.
IMG_0708.jpeg

And it was Jonas Vingegaard by half a wheel!
IMG_0710.jpeg

IMG_0711.jpeg

IMG_0709.jpeg

Both of these guys are the best of Sportsmen.
You got me today, but I’ll be back for the rematch.
IMG_0713.jpeg

IMG_0714.jpeg

Tadej looked pretty down and out at the finish, but he had nothing to hang his head about.
He actually gained time on his nearest rival, but he knows it’s going to take a lot more than that, to win this thing outright.

All eyes are on the Pyrenees now!
Fantastic race so far!
I feel like I’m watching the days of Merckx, only there’s four of them!
🤪
