Ok, they’ve officially reached the halfway point of this years tour.
1,000 miles down, 1,000 more to go!
Oh, man!
Team Total Energeies is going to have to do it on their spare parts bikes.

So it seems that even the Tour de France is not immune from the scourge of bike theft.

Stage 12 looked like it was going to be a day for the breakaway, but it turned out to be another thrilling sprint for the finish.
My man Wout Van Aert on team Visma was looking good for the win, but the man from Eritrea had other plans.

Oh!
An unfortunate crash just outside the safety barrier, that caught Primoz Roglic!

He got up quick, but he was going to have to hustle to minimize his loses.
IMG_0752.jpeg

Mean while, back up at the finish line,
Biniam Girmay was putting the final touches on his masterful command of the Green Jersey.
IMG_0753.jpeg

Win number three!

This guy is without a doubt, the fastest man in this year Tour.

Unfortunately, Roglic lost a huge amount of time, on what should’ve been a fairly routine day of the Tour de France.
But, as they say, There are no routine days in the Tour de France.

Yep, turning up the heat! Folks need to remember Vingegaard seems to get stronger during the tour for some reason. Visma has incredible resources. Bummer for Roglic. That time loss may be difficult to come back from.....

Thanks for the great coverage Marty!👍

Stage 13 was another day for the sprinters, but once again, it was anything but routine.
The first wrench thrown into the works, was the announcement that team Bora rider Primoz Roglic, would not be starting today.😢
Super bummed to hear that, but I guess yesterday’s crash was too much to overcome.
Then, it didn’t take long to realize why the number 13 is so superstitiously considered to be unlucky, as rider number 13, Juan Ayuso, on team UAE looked like he could barely turn the pedals around.
He put his number plate on upside down to try and ward off the evil spirits, but even that didn’t work, as he got dropped in no time, and ended up leaving the race for the comfort of the team car.
Just about the time that happened, the crosswind picked up, and split the peloton into fragments that put everyone into a panic, that would carry on for the rest of the stage.
All the remaining top guys stayed up at the front, so the mad dash for the finish was crazy as usual.
Crazy is the norm, when you’re riding the Tour de France.

Here’s where they’re headed tomorrow.
The Col du Tourmalet!

Oh, Yeah!

Stage 14 was looking to be another Mano Y Mano between the overall contenders, and it definitely lived up to its billing.

These guys would be looking for all the miracles they could get, as they rode through the tiny village of Lourdes.

Next up, the Col du Tourmalet!

They just built this wonderful monument to one of the most beloved French cyclists of all time.
The great, Raymond Poulidor.
I’m sure he was smiling from the heavens as he watched his grandson,
(Mathieu Van Der Poel) compete in the Tour de France, just as he had done a few generations before.
Magnifique!

It's shaping up really well for an epic edition of Le Tour I think
My friend Chris is riding the Tourmalet later in the year; in fact he's doing the whole Pyrenees from coast to coast (West to East) and I've been winding him up all day!
Fantastic coverage Marty, even though I am able to watch it live most days your roundup of the days events make great reading.
Tomorrow is a big day, in every sense!!!!!

With a climb up the Peyresourde, right out of the gate, this looks to be the hardest stage of the tour.
After yesterday’s stage, there’s no rest for the weary.
