Here's a possible war-time New World on FBM in Bucyrus, Ohio. It looks like the bike's been painted, the seat's shot, the chain ring and guard aren't original and the fenders look like post-war replacements, but the wheels look original with painted rims and black-out hubs, and it's a "K" serial. And it looks like a large frame. Does anybody know what that chain ring is? Looks like a pretty stiff gear, not my first choice for a hill climber!

That's a nice find. It does look like a tall frame. I think you're right that the frame is a re-paint. Fenders look to be from a 1950s World Varsity. It has a peculiar chain ring.

Yeah, from the picture of the serial, the original paint might have been blue. And the chain ring looks blacked-out, but I have no idea what it's from.

Painted rims, war tires, blackout parts, single rear mudguard stay, wooden pedal blocks, gold pins, and reflector. Seat is post war(?) and bars replaced. It’s pretty sweet. I wonder who got it? I asked Pete for the SN but he doesn’t seem interested in sending it. You guys have any idea who bought it?

I spelled Morrow wrong in the Black Cherry sirMike/renfarron entry above. I corrected it in the spreadsheet already. It will show up corrected next time...

I am constantly finding little errors like that and fine tuning the list every time I look at it. No one noticed, but back in the really old charts, I used to use the terms "wire" and "bar" for the two different mudguard brace types. I think Gary pointed out that "bar" is not really a good descriptor for a flat stay since a "bar" sounds like it has a round cross section. I changed all the "bar" entries to "slat" after that. 😛

@Miq
Sorry buddy, been swamped. Just pulled this sweet old wartime gal in from the shed last night. She’ll go up on the stand this AM, and I’ll get y’all that serial ! My apologies for the delay. What’s your best guess ? Sure reminds me of a 42 CT I once had; wood blocks, box pins, etc. Also, yes, if I recall, blackout seatpost. Interesting: blackout reflector bezel too ! Is Morrow dating usually accurate during this period ? I can get that too. Bike is headed to Orange County; not sure if buyer wishes to be known. Love this color. It’s even better in person. Most things are. Cheers !

Hi @onecatahula Thanks for getting the serial for us. I’m guessing it will be I J or K. It’s definitely a wartime bike and it’s really well preserved. Hard to believe the paint and wood blocks could be in such great shape. i knew it wouldn’t take long before someone bought it. Thanks again for taking the time to grab the serial and hub numbers for our list. I really appreciate it. The hub may not have a date code at all, or it may be something like 41. Looking forward to seeing what you find

Thank you for keeping up this list. It has become a go-to reference for New World bikes in terms of a timeline and equipment source.
