^ agreed. Since the chain is original to the cluster, it may be your only option if you use the existing hub cogs. Depends of course on the amount of "chain stretch" it currently has. I would recommend a Connex single speed chain if the width is the same as the german chain. Of course the width is key here. Connex makes different width chains if your setup is narrower than 1/8th x 1/2 shown below..

I highly recommend Connex chains as they are very strong...your issue if you choose to try one is if your cogs are worn enough to not play well with an unstretched new chain like the one above...If your german Sachs chain is not stretched at all, then use it. A new chain should run smoothly on the cluster as well. New chains are just so much more efficient imo..

I had a build started too before I started moving. Ran into a brick wall when the chain line didn't line up. Then the rear tire rubs when at 50-60psi. Then you know, didn't have as much time for the bikes.

I'll likely put this drivetrain back with the 26" I first intended it for. Then find some crustier stuff to match this frame, hopefully still internal gear rear.

👍 Hopefully chain drop not issue, I had 1x5 on klunker build and chain kept dropping. Luckily I had junky front derailleur that I gutted used as chain guide.

So another twist to the build. I was always a little bothered that the frame is a 24" and not a full size frame. I just happened across these and ended up purchasing the pile for $40. They are listed as 50's model Schwinn Bikes but from my little bit of knowledge the rear drop out from the larger frame may indicate an older vintage. I won't have them in hand until late next week but figured I'd post up the one image that I have of them. So my thoughts are to proceed with the klunker build but with the larger frame that I hope someone can put a model name to for me and use the 24" to create a board track racer type bike. The small frame may end up as a wall hanger or future project.

The 26" frame is a Huffman I believe. I would guess 48ish.
