Just added this one to the list. Thanks @Oilit ! There were two types of the aluminum spoke protectors, and these slotted pieces have shown up on a few of the Corvettes. Both the solid and slotted were used on the lightweights but the majority of the slotted were used on the high-end road bikes.

Looks like the spoke protector has been replaced, small protector with cut-outs.

It's a shame the SchwinnBikeForum was hacked and all my pictures of the Corvette 5 speeds that were entered on the list including the ones with the slotted alloy protectors are gone now. If you weren't a member, you could not view the pictures. If that wasn't the case, I would have copied all my pictures and posted them here. There were at least 3 that showed up with the butterfly handlebars too. Tom Findley finally showed up and posted in the Registry thread just prior to him passing away. Lots of pictures and info are now lost forever. 😖

GTs58, Were the slotted alloy mainly on the later 1962 Corvette 5's? ... I've never seen one.

The first ones that I've noted on the list had August 61 serials. In 1963 most all of the lightweights had the 14-28 freewheels and many had the larger slotted alloy protectors.
Here's the larger diameter slotted alloy on my 63 Varsitys.

The small protectors with holes were later and chromed steel. Those Huret pieces were being sold on ebay for quite a while a few years back and they were the larger ones used on the 1963 Schwinn lightweights. I believe Huret supplied all of the alloy pieces for Schwinn.
