Out with friends yesterday, Sunday.
Started with a ride over to see Jamie's 'new' 1888/90 'Coventry Machinists' Ordinary....

...before following him on a 4 mile dash on public roads to Wallingford for pre-ride coffees.....

...that's Nick's 'Aston Martin' bike on the left, yours for $20K just 5 years ago I believe, now his 6 kilograms Sunday coffee machine, lol!

Myself, Nico and Chris M rode up into the Chiltern Hills for some leisurely lunchtime ales and food in one of the finest pubs in England.
Here's my 'Prefer' in the garden.....

...we were joined by Matt on his 1912 BSA who came straight up the steep side of the escarpment off-road on dirt tracks and Adam, Clive and Rob on their very high-end mtb's, but I forgot to get photos of these four.

Chris and Nico enjoying the gorgeous view from the Chilterns across the Thames Valley towards the Berkshire Downs (actually ups), before our epic descent through narrow, wooded lanes into Wallingford.....

...another great ride in our little piece of England.
Another 30 miles added to my weekly total on top of around 65 commuting miles on vintage bikes.
Making the most of the good weather before this coming weeks wet spell.

First ride on a new to me 38 Schwinn DcBR
Made a few corrections since receiving with a few more to go. Similar feel to a Dx with exception of riding position with the cross brace bars. I like double bar roadsters and finally have the Schwinn version.

Started out in the 50’s but warmed up to mid 60’s with wind gusts at 13 mph.
Had time for 18 miles today. Good to be out in the wild !

I planned on my long loop yesterday but had some weird tire/tube issues early, so cut it short. Today, squared away mechanically I endeavored to succeed, once again riding the best weapon for the job, my hopped up 21st C. Hawthorne Flyer. The bike ran sweet today, and fast. Weather high 70's, 80ish, not much wind and few out, perfect conditions all around. This ride takes me out to the coast down the Santa Ana riverbed, south to the Wedge, across the Newport Channel, up Back Bay then inland up San Diego creek past Laguna Canyon, then into Sand Canyon via the heinous climb, through the Laguna foothills, back through UCI and home. Has about 2000 feet of climbing, 56mi, 3hr 51min. Truly a great ride today, feeling good on the bike end to end. Not too bad for an old guy with a shot back. Make rides great again! Be safe out there...gang. This one today in the head....
