Rode the 57 Corvette in to work today. Less rat the resto-mod maybe. The only original part's are the forks and brack calipers, everything else is off different bikes from the 50's through 90's. My new longer chain came in the mail today so after work I'll be putting the original sprocket and crank back on it. Put a pair of red bow peddles from a 50's Hiawatha Sceneca until I find decent correct black bow peddles for it.

Got a lot done on this today and took it for a spin.
Replaced the tires, wheels, seat, seat post and clamp. Put the original crank and sprocket back on after flipping the chainring around to keep the new chain from coming off when I shifted into 5th or 6th gear. I'm liking it's new look. I'll have to replace the person's seat. I'm a big boy and bottom the seat springs out. Lol.

Everything is broken. The frame has been gob welded back together after a front end crash broke the head tube off but the front wheel ended out too close to the down tube. The cantilever frame part is mashed against the top tube. Stuck crooked quill, cross threaded pedals, home spoked wheels (by someone else) spoked wrong, rusted vice grip as a seat post clamp, coaster brake wheel on the front and back, 26x1 3/8 rims on a balloon frame, bailing wire to hold down the coaster arms, badly bent and dented fork, flat iron straps for fender stays, bent crank, rusted through bare seat pan, red rubber hose and hemp twine for grips, kick stand had no stop so it orbited around the frame fixed by welding on a bolt to act as a stop and layers of paint over rust.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to copycat your handlebars!

I'm afraid I'm going to have to copycat your handlebars!

I recently did the same with a 1964 Schwinn Tiger. The bars I used are narrower then I liked so looking for a wider set. I'm a little tall for most 26" bikes so I like taller bars whenever I'm not "restoring" a bike. Besides, all the cool older kids bake in the 70's flipped their bars up like that. Lol.

Out for a nice evening ride on my '37 Western Flyer Klunk-Rat. Mostly good except for a slightly mobile seat, seems using 2 sets of shims to go from 7/8" to 5/8" is nearly impossible to get tight enough. May have to try a 13/16" post with one shim, or a 7/8" BMX post with no shims.

This makes two out of three bikes with cracked up tires to skid on.
First up, the Firestone with its skip tooth Morrow hub.
We took these three to the big industrial park today. "You don't think I'll skid the tires on this Western Flyer? Watch this!"
What an epic skid mark..oh yeah

Basement fresh!
The goal was to get this frame back on the road, with stuff that was already here. I'll try to get 20 bucks out of her at the swap meet at Timonium
What does the frame look like? It was given to me after the guy took out the skip tooth crank set "This part is worth a few bucks." Check out the little curved bit by the rear fork.
