From @cyclingday Marty's post above. 1937 was the first year the derailleur was allowed. The Osgear Super Champion equipped machine was the winner!
Below is a complete Super Champion kit; amazingly every part is marked: "Super Champion." The box is marked on the side panels "The triumph of the 1936 season." The extra label on the top is marked with an added glue on "Type Tour de France." Presumably this box was made late 1936 but was packaged just before or after the Tour allowed it to used.

...Lapize is a personal hero of mine, there's a great biography available if you ever want a good read.
Written by Jean Bobet (Louison's brother), I recommend it......

106 miles in the saddle today, and it all came down to a bunch sprint for the win.
It’s 3 for 3 for Jasper Philipsen!
Cavendish gave it a good go, but Philipsen is proving to be the fastest man on wheels this year.

That wraps up the first week of racing.
Two more weeks to go!
Is this thing nuts or what?🤪
...keeping all fingers crossed for Cav; if he doesn't achieve it though, being equal with Merckx (in stage wins terms) is still pretty special!

...fantastic to see in the box.
My friend Nico has two bikes fitted with this system, so much nicer to use than the 'Cambio Corsa', but I'm no Bartali, lol.

Great to see this thread once more Marty, I love it!

Definitely a disappointing finish for Cavendish.
Not the way anyone wanted to see him finish his Tour de France.
But, the wheels roll on, and as they say, there are no gifts in the Tour.

Alright, Mads!

The agony of seeing Mark Cavendish go down and out of this years Tour, with what looks to be a broken collarbone. Ouch!

And the ecstasy of seeing Mads Pedersen drag race Jasper Philipsen to the line for the win.

Way to showcase the Chroma-Iridescent, Mads!
