I rode a crusty ‘58 deluxe Hornet today

Started in the dark this morning and rode by headlight. On the way driving to the trail this morning I kept thinking about @tripple3 and @SPKC and the times they posted riding 50 + mile rides. This wouldn’t be my choice of bike for speed and I knew there was no way I could match their speed and times on gravel today, but thought if my time was decent at 12.5 mi ( turnaround point) I’d push myself and see how good a time I could do for 50 mi. It was in upper 30’s at start ending in the upper 40’s.

The trail conditions far from ideal today and the route was 25 miles of 0-2 uphill grade and 4 steeper climbs. I rode 50 mi today ( 47 gravel) in 5hrs and 25 min.

Clipped into the 39 Shelby Flyer for another good road ride, this time at a bit quicker pace. Inland again to the Quail Creek/Sand Canyon trails with some more climbing. @RidinRelics thanks for the kudos but it's not that much really. T3 avoids the climbing and sticks to the flats & I just work harder.😕 Maybe get him out in the rain with some mud and see how he comes along.😆 The Shelby is one of the stiffest and quickest rigs in my bike quiver. 57mi ~ 3 hrs 50min today T3 if that matters at all. It's just riding old rigs for fun, not how fast you are or how far you go. Cooler weather in the high 50's/breezy. Keep rolling Caber Riders.
