Well I finally laced up 12G spokes on the rear wheel of my 1953 Monark. It went well even though I had to drill out the holes for the thicker spokes. I will do the front wheel next. It is nice to have the matching whitewall tire back on it.
A Vista Islena. An American bike, made in Japan, which somehow made its way to Holland. I bought it cheaply many years ago as a parts donor.
The frame is my (large) size and has vertical dropouts. And I was too lazy to either sell it or just bin it, and as a result it resided in the attic for ten years.
Found it again when I was looking for a frame to build as a winter beater. I got it down from the attic, threw on some parts from the bottom of the bin and a pair of cheap 650B wheels that had just arrived and I wanted to try.
Took it out today for a short trip with mrs non-fixie, whose Mercier has just gotten new bars and guidonnet levers:
Rode a Colson Snap tank today. Recently got another snap tank and started installing some of the parts on this frame that I’ve been messing with several years.Yesterday I faux painted the tank and installed.
Had every intent to have a nice long ride in sunny weather today, but only got a couple miles in before getting a call that I was needed elsewhere.
Probably a good thing, I was able to ride far enough to find out I need to address some mechanical issues on this one I thought I had taken care of.
Rode the twin straight bars today
I have a hoard of these a dozen I think.
I love these Schwinn frame styles 59 through 62
I post up the Skipper a lot due to it being closest to the front door at home and it has the Bendix 2sp kickback on old Araya 7X alloy hoops
