Found this '71 20" Varsity in Kool Orange survivor on local FB Marketplace. Priced at $50 I jumped on it because it's all original with the exception of the tires, wingnuts on the front axle and, most important the frame fits me.
After a quick wash, some WD40 here and there and some air in the tires I was able to give it a short ride.
Lets say it shifts and brakes but that's about it!

First shake down cruise on the (new to me) Heavy Duti up to the local college. Added rack, bell, and bottle cage towards transformation to a city bike. Prior owner installed the Shimano 7 speed Nexus hub. All my other Schwinn cruisers are Chicago from the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s, so it’s interesting to see the tech changes in this ‘90’s? Taiwan bike.

Rode around with the group, then rode home.
Rolled with Dan, riding still, born 1937, keep moving!
48 miles today, with some stops between rides, for the connections.😎

Great pics @Wolfmac !

I went Klunking again at Browns Ranch. This time with Eric, Bob and Tim. We did my favorite ride with a shuttle. 1000 feet of elevation loss over 13 miles with a few fun climbs. Perfect weather.

The upper part was burned in a fire recently. It’s ugly but the riding is still fun.

There was a nice half moon overhead the whole ride @tripple3
