Stump on the side of the path definitely got a chuckle out of me! Ha
Rode to the Beargrass Creek Pumping Station that I used to ride the BMX on back in the day. The transition at the bottom is so shallow, I'm not sure how I used to get to the top of "the Bump!" I think it's about 9ft tall.
It wasn't until I scooted myself down from the top that I remembered having to slide the bike down with me before, to avoid flipping over the bars riding straight down it.
I had seen a white crane flying overhead a couple of times. Finally got close enough to get a picture of these and they took off right after the picture. Very skittish creatures! I counted 6 total today stalking the shallows...until I came along...
Signs, signs, everywhere the signs. Lockin' up scenery, breakin' my mind! That's not how that goes... Lol
Can you believe they have to lock up the Nature around here?!? Only open 10-3, lame.
Caufield's!...for all your spooky schtuff!
Diggin the vintage magician sign!
"Happy Days are BEER Again!" The store sign reads...the day that Prohibition ended, Dec 5th 1933. This is my second favorite, next to Spider Horse...which has not reappeared this year.
Right as I was reaching the furthest point from home that I had intended to be for the day, the Weather App says there's a Tornado Watch. So yeah, time to hightail it home! When I started back that way, the first street I turned onto that was facing the direction the storm was coming from, I was blasted with headwinds. What a rough ride home...I'd get the chance to upshift only to get blasted down to a slower speed AS I was finding a comfortable cadence. 25mi total, but the wind made it feel like 50. Now sitting at home with Tornado Sirens going off. :-/
